I am writing with regard to a letter which appeared in the Highveld Tribune of Tuesday, 1 February 2011, complaining about students that were not short-listed for advertised posts.     The letter contained a number of inaccuracies and misrepresentation of facts.  In November 2010 Camden Power Station met with principals from different high schools in Ermelo to inform them about Camden’s intention to appoint learners.  This was done to ensure that Camden gets as many applications from Ermelo as possible.  When the advert went out in December, a copy was also faxed to the Department of Education to ensure that they could use their channels to distribute it to schools in Ermelo. A fax number was provided as an alternative for those who did not have access to the internet.  All short listed candidates for learnerships were from Ermelo, Amersfoort and Piet Retief.  No candidates were booked accommodation for interviews as the letter suggests.  Camden Power Station remains committed to the development of skills and the creation of jobs around Ermelo.Camden Power Station
